Brief CV

Janine has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Queensland. She has more than 25 years’ experience in the minerals industry, encompassing executive management, consulting, technical and production roles. Janine started her professional career as a Metallurgist at Mount Isa Mines, before moving to WMC, and then working in various locations as Senior and later Principal Metallurgist with Iluka Resources.

Following these site roles, Janine moved to Adelaide to take on the role of General Manager of the Minerals and Industrial Division of Amdel (now BV), providing mineral testing services (mineral processing, geoanalytical, mineralogical and materials testing) to the mining industry (with key clients including BHP, Rio Tinto, OneSteel, Xstrata and OZ Minerals). In 2009 Janine established a consulting business, undertaking due diligence projects, desktop reviews, independent audits and acting as an expert witness in the field of mineral sands processing and tailings management.

Janine has served on the Adelaide Branch Committee of the AusIMM since 2005, in a variety of leadership roles including that of Chair, Student Chapter liaison and on the EEF Scholarship Panel. She was elected to the AusIMM Board in 2013 and re-elected for a second term in 2015. She has also served and continues to contribute to numerous AusIMM conference organising committees. Janine is passionate about the industry and the Institute and is particularly excited to be part of the 125th Anniversary celebrations in 2018. As the Chair of the Policy and Advocacy Committee since 2014, Janine is a keen ambassador for the AusIMM upholding itself as "the trusted voice" and for re-establishing the relevance of the Institute to all industry professionals. She also serves on a number of other specialist committees including Ethics, Awards, Merit-Based Funding and the Professional Accreditation Advisory Taskforce (PAAT), responsible for the design and delivery of the enhanced AusIMM Chartered Professional Program.
